Successors of Windows XP did not have a Media Center edition but the player itself came with Windows. I have been recording and playing back with an Edriol UA 25 on window XP for some time with no probs. Everything is working fine now. I thought that you couldn't buy an installation disk, you have to buy a computer with the OS pre-installed.
