I am convinced the S2 corrupted the card and it needs to be reformatted. Connect your memory ... i tried to format the card like the manuel says in the troubleshooting section and Im unable to hightlight and select "format" in the menu dropdown.....from articles online this sounds like I replaced the memory card with an old one and the camera worked perfectly well for about a dozen shots before it too displayed the lined screen. http://divxpl.net/memory-card/memory-card-error-canon-s3-is.html

Sorry, but ... As I know there is only one firmware revision for Canon S3, so it there is a bug in it it i s on all cameras. Use a card reader to download any pictures on the card to a folder you create on your desktop. Has anyone tried to send their camera back to Canon to get it serviced?
